More fic memes!

I've been wanting to try this very popular fic meme for awhile, and am finally getting around to it! (I stole this from my DW friends.)

-----

If I made Cinderella, the audience would immediately be looking for a body in the coach.
— Alfred Hitchcock

And I ask: If I wrote a story, what would you be looking for in it?

-----

In other words, what do you expect to see and get from my writing when you read one of my stories?

When I see one of your fics, I expect something that feel well thought through, something that feels as though it stepped right out of canon. I expect the kind of story that makes a point or has a meaning. I expect something that can make me smile (or sometimes cry!) And I expect something that makes me say "I wish I could write like that!"

I'm sorry I've had so much to say lately, but I'm taking a rather intense math class online, and sometimes I just need a break, and since your journal posts show up in my Friends page, they're fair game too! I hope you don't mind....

Aww, you have no idea how happy that makes me! I do love hearing from all you. It's a great help when I'm going through one of those "I hate everything I write!" phases.

I expect the kind of story that makes a point or has a meaning.

Keh, I was just talking to Mira about that, and how I always start a story with a point to make about either the characters or their decisions. Glad it gets across!

"I wish I could write like that!"

Honestly hun, you're a better writer than you might think. You're skilled at characterization, narration, flow, and remember to communicate through body language. All marks of skilled writing.

You certainly don't need to apologize for commenting on entries on your f-page, that's kinda what they're there for! XD Epp! Math! You give me bad flash-backs. Good luck to you, and drink lots of coffee!

And if you want a longer break... *cue evil laugh* My other fan-girl obsession, besides QT, is Doctor Who, and I'm going to assume you don't watch the show and recommend it to you. If your first thought is--I don't usually like sci-fi, please note that I don't either. I only tried it because TLE recced it to me, then I learned both Mrs. Turner and John Rogers (a TV writer I admire) adore it. Please watch a serious trailer and a more light-hearted trailer. And yes, I am shamelessly trying to convince you to join Who-Fandom, but you and I seem to have similar tastes, so you may be thanking me in the end! :)

Thank you so much for your lovely observations, Books! Please, do come and visit my Journal and comment as much as you like!

Thanks for the math encouragement...It's not that the math os particularly difficult, but the teacher has assignment due almost every day, including Saturdays, Sunday's and Labor Day, His instructions are so unclear, that on the first bunch of homework assignments only two people out of a class of fifteen got them right, and then he excoriated the entire class.

I haven't had a chance to watch the trailers yet, I'm not at home this morning and, you guessed it, Headphone are still MIA, but I'll probably be able to watch them tomorrow morning.

Oh, and thanks for the compliments on my writing! "Of Dragons and Damsels" was my very first fic ever, and I was so psyched that I got second, but I felt kinda like it just fell together by accident. I really appreciate your opinion of my writing!

A complicated, intricate plot ;) Great use of words, an amazing plot revelation (for your multi-chap stories, unique ideas. A balanced mix of angst, humor, and adventure!

Aww... thank you, sweets! I'm always careful to keep my stories balanced and engaging. Good to hear it works!
